| It is easy to see why Songbirds in the Forest at Tamborine
Mountain won Restaurant of the Year. Beatiful venue, great service
and fabulous food!
"One of the great advantages is that we have an amazing chef,"
says owner Bonnie Rodwell.
"This, combined with excellent wait staff without any
'attitude', makes for an unforgettable dining experience."
The restaurant is situated on 51 acres, much of it in
rainforest. For a relaxing holiday there are six gated villas
allowing complete privacy for guests. The villas come with king
size beds, luxury robes, mini bar and classy toiletries. The beds
are covered with possum rugs worth $4500.
All the villas have balconies with comfy lounges, table and
chairs - great for taking in the fabulous scenery. A double spa
bath for soaking in and a DVD player with a collection of great
movies make guests feel very spoilt and pampered.
There is plenty to do and for those exercise junkies there are
great walking trails exclusively for guests.
Wander over to the restaurant, choose inside or outside dining,
and settle down with a glass of wine while you peruse the menu.
Deciding what to have is a hard decision as all the dishes sound so
tempting.
There are separate menus for lunch and dinner with about 15
dishes to choose from created by chef de cuisine, Daran
Glasgow.
Several of the dishes can be ordered in entr
ée size so the serious connoisseur could try a
few different tastes.
The food is beautifully presented with much of the produce
sourced or grown locally. Be tempted with seared Queensland
scallops, sconfit pork belly terrine, pear and cider beurre blanc
or Inglewood chicken breast with sage and pancetta gnocchi or even
grain fed Black Angus beef.
A warning - be sure to leave room for dessert. Or you could try
one of the Witches Chase cheeses, produced on Tamborine Mountain.
Finish off with a coffee and stroll back to your elegant villa.
You couldn't imagine a more relaxing holiday.
